Emerging Arts Leaders: Philadelphia is pleased to announce Creative Conversation 2016, a one day symposium gathering arts leaders from the Greater Philadelphia region. The event, featuring a keynote speech from local arts advocate and relationship builder, Tiffany Tavarez, will take place on Saturday, October 1, 10 am, at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (100 N. 20th St., fifth floor).

This year’s Creative Conversation follows last year’s successful “What’s Next?” event by breaking open the traditional conference format to engage participants in a daylong dialogue about the myriad ways that the arts shape our region, and how we as arts leaders can promote and support the arts in and around Philadelphia. After a morning keynote speech from Tiffany Tavarez, attendees will divide into fastpaced facilitated discussions with local arts leaders on the ways that the arts intersect with fields and topics ranging from government, policy and community to education, entrepreneurship and social justice.

Keynote speaker Tiffany Tavarez is a relationship focused leader with experience in project management, philanthropy and program development  with expertise in building internal and external partnerships. She received the inaugural Next Generation Leader Award by the Women’s Leadership Initiative of the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. She was also named one of 55 “Connectors & Keepers”  by LEADERSHIP Philadelphia;  recipient IMPACTO Most Influential Latinos in the Delaware Valley (2015) and recipient of Philadelphia Business Journal’s Minority Business Leader Award (2015). She also sits on the board of directors of the Philadelphia Mural Arts program, Second State Press, Union Benevolent Association, PHLDiversity as well as a member of Temple Contemporary Advisory Council.

Creative Conversation discussion facilitators include Jamaine Smith (CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia), Lindsey Crane (Intercultural Journeys), Nicole Allen White (Philadelphia Museum of Art), Cara Blouin (Art Church of West Philadelphia), Mary Tasillo (Soapbox Community Print Show and Zine Library), Kevin Schott (University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology), Aviva Kapust (Village of Arts and Humanities), instrument inventor Guy Juravic, designer Tim Eads, Jarrod Markman (FringeArts and DaVinci Art Alliance) and Michelle Currica (The Philadelphia Cultural Fund).
